SBDL Rules

The rules as of March 24 ,2008:
NOTE changes are in bold.

1) 80 mil, no-DH, waivers, 20% drop penalty. ATG3v2.
2) Multiple ballparks allowed (not unique)
3) 54 ATG3 team player pool, as determined by owners before Season 6 and amended thereafter, complete list in my blog and elsewhere on this site.
a) NO LONGER APPLICABLE. Upon a change of ownership, the new owner may select one team to add to the pool.
b) The player pool will not exceed 54 teams at any time.
4) 3-1-3 Keeper format. Each owner announces 3 keeper, or protected, players. Then there is a steal round, worst to first, where one remaining player gets stolen from each team. Then another keeper round of (up to) three players. Maximum players per team following this portion is 7, minimum is 4.
5) The 7 keepers (this includes the steal round selection) must adhere to a maximum of no more than 4 position players or pitchers, thus a 4:3 ratio. If keeping less than 7 players, you must have at least 1 of each type. Thus, if keeping 6, the acceptable ratios would be 4:2, 3:3; 5 keepers - 4:1, 3:2; 4 keepers - 3:1, 2:2.
6) Protected player list must be posted in specific forum thread by predetermined time.
7) Six-round live draft following keeper announcements (I will make a separate thread in the forum - ILC - just for the draft).
8 ) Draft is NFL-style, worst-to-first (12-1, 12-1, 12-1, 12-1...) from previous season, playoff results included.
a) Tie breakers: Head-to-head; if tie remains, then RS; if tie remains, then lotto draw.
9) Time limit between picks - 3 hours. (no time limit from midnight - 9 a.m., Saturdays, and Sundays) During first round of draft and the steal round in the middle of the keepers phase, time limit between picks is 12 hours, which includes "overnight" and weekends. The clock is not "off."
10) One trade involving protected players is allowed per team, after announcing keeper list through end of the draft.
11) Teams must retain their keepers from end of draft through the sixth game of season play.
12 ) Any team can change parks, but only once per three seasons.
a) A park change must be drafted in place of a player in live draft.
b) Parks get announced with keepers (before the draft), but new parks still get announced (a second time) as a draft pick during the live draft.
c) New owners, taking over existing teams, have the option to switch parks as well, without having to use a draft pick.
13) After live draft, protected players and drafted players get placed at the BOTTOM of the auto-draft card. All players hoping to be taken via autodraft at the top of the card.
14) Divisional realignment can only occur when at least 10 managers vote in favor.

For reference only:
15) With the switch from ATG2 to ATG3, the above rules remain in place with exceptions.
a) If a park no longer exists, the owner may claim a new one without sacrificing a draft pick;
b) Players that "retire" from ATG obviously are gone. However, players that "evolve" (say maybe a change from the '67 Yaz to '75 Yaz) remain on the owner's roster;
c) With ATG3 now having 70 teams, we will limit the player pool to 48 teams (ATG2 was 51 teams). This will be done in a four-round draft, where owners select whole ATG teams to include in the pool. Also, in worst-to-first order, like steal round and live draft. There is no clock for the player pool draft.
It was voted upon by mangers to move to ATG3v2, week of March 17, 2008.
Commissioner decision to grandfather Dennis Boyd ('86 Bos) to eliminate a team ('86 Bos) from the player pool to make room for the new players (organized as a single team for league rules, known as New Player set)of ATG3v2.
Commissioner decision to place Boyd in the New Player set to try to minimize confusion.
Commissioner decision to eliminate Rule 3a since the player pool threshold was reached.
